MASJID

Aww,

This is to update the community on the opening of the Telford Central Mosque@King Street, Wellington.

Mashallah, after significant consultations and much hard work by many members of the community, the trial opening of the masjid over the past few days has gone well. We have learnt lessons from the trial and a few gaps we had overlooked have now been addressed. We are pleased to go ahead with the Jumma prayers on Friday 10th July.

The Re-opening Planning and the Volunteers groups met yesterday, and a few revisions were agreed upon. We have done our very best to ensure the risks of opening and holding Jumma are minimised, but please be aware the risk has not gone away and never can be totally eliminated. To make this a success and keep the masjid open, the community needs to play their part by following the guidelines and instructions from the volunteers.

Mistakes and misunderstandings can happen, but please be patient, calm, and understand and respect the motives behind the rules (see our logo above), which are to ensure the safety of all of us. Above all, please remember where you are, keep the sanctity of the masjid and keep in mind the purpose of you being at the masjid in the first place.

The key change to note is that we have removed the age groups on practicality grounds for this week and we will evaluate how it goes, along with the entire experience. Please see the revised guidelines below.

IF YOU PRAY IN THE MASJID, NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
