The Shropshire Islamic Foundation is seeking new trustees to replace retiring trustees Dr Mujahid Qureshi and Dr Shaukat Ali.
Dr Qureshi, Chairman of Trustees, is a founding trustee, and has served SIF since 2005. His dedication and service to the Masjid and community goes back many decades prior to the setting up of the charity. His vision, dedication and energy has been inspirational and it is fair to say the charity would not be where it is now, without his enormous contribution, especially around fundraising among his vast network of contacts around the country.
More modestly, Dr Shaukat Ali, has served SIF for nearly 12 years and has overseen finance, governance and administration. After over 40 years of service as a trustee of various charities and not-for-profit organisations, he is looking forward to a quieter life and pursuit of other interests. He will continue to be available to support the transition to the next generation of trustees, who along with continuing trustee Rashid Hussain, will lead the next phase of the expansion, including second floor, funeral service, expansion of education and community facilities. He leaves the charity in sound financial health and strong governance foundations.
The role of a trustee is a serious undertaking. Potential applicants need to have the capabilities, capacity, motivation and crucially, be able to provide the time commitment to fulfil the role, to the degree needed.
All potential applicants are urged to read the briefing document and then fill in the application form, along with a CV.
